Excellence Awards Recipient Detail Information

Carola R. Pfortner
Madison College
Recipient YouTube Video: Psychology - Making the Invisible Visible
Statement:  The safety of assured knowledge may quell a learner’s courage to veer from the quest for the right answer. Thankfully, students find audacity when they feel “seen” within a socially supportive environment. This is an easy match with the learner centered attitudes so embraced by my college. I find motivation among my students and their compelling stories. My colleagues, similarly veracious learners as I am, are a constant source of knowledge and skill. Madison College has long made a commitment to learner centered strategies and has invested in systematic support by dedicating an entire department, to this aim: CETL (Center of Excellence in Teaching and Learning). It is easy to want to make a genuine contribution when the college so obviously invests real resources in the quality of teaching. And thanks to the nomination of my colleagues and your kind award, I do feel “seen”.
