Accounting does not enjoy the most stellar reputation. Hence it is truly rewarding when students communicate their desire to become a CPA or tell me they actually enjoy the subject. However the most valuable aspect of teaching is the relationships that are developed with students. The ability to mingle with individuals of different experiences and persuasions is a prized attribute of academia that is not frequently replicated in other professions, and I am fortunate to be privy to this.
