Thomas M. Kieft Associate Professor, Mathematics Lake-Sumter State College
Continuous improvement efforts to ensure student success require thoughtful and courageous analysis of students’ outcome data. In an effort to respond to students’ low success rates in math gatekeeper courses, a new innovative initiative was designed by the Mathematics Department and PIE Office to improve at-risk high school and college students’ math performance outcomes. This initiative received a five-year $2.9 million award to assist with implementation. This is the largest single grant in the college’s history.
