I am inspired by the chance to help move a person toward their goals. When a student enters my class for the first time, I try and identify with them by ascertaining what their goals are. For some, the goals are academic; for others the goals are career oriented; and for another group the goals may be personal. My favorite question I ask the students is “did you learn anything useful?” It is always a treat to witness students’ interests piquing. That interest spawn the students’ investigation into a topic. From there, they can move closer to their goals.
