Leadership and Organization
Like many community colleges, the College of Southern Maryland is committed to improving the community it serves. The College has leveraged public and private resources to launch a number of innovative Institutes, including: Financial Literacy, Nonprofit, STEM, and Diversity. The Nonprofit Institute at the College of Southern Maryland, funded by county government, works with the region’s nonprofits to enhance their capacity to achieve their missions by providing training, mentoring, consultation services, and a new crowd sourcing platform. The Charles County Diversity Institute at the College of Southern Maryland, also funded by county government, organizes programs, dialogues, training, and speakers programs as a way to address the rapidly changes demographics of the region. Collectively, these institutes position the College as a major player in helping the region to address its most vexing issues.
